TRANSONIC Pro OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Transonic is a solid state electronic instrument that is very easy to operate, has no moving parts other than it's control switches and will give years of maintenance free use repelling a wide variety of pests. Transonic units emit intense, patented soundwaves which penetrate pests' nervous systems causing discomfort and disorientation to drive them away. The operating controls are located on the rear panel.
a) INITIAL OPERATION:
1. Push SOUND PATTERN switch to C.
2. Push SOUND FREQUENCY switch to QUIET.
3. Plug one end of AC cord into POWER PACK, plug the other end into the mains outlet.
4. Push ON-OFF switch to ON. The ON light will light up.
5. The SOUND PATTERN switch (A,B &C) changes the pattern of the sounds, the interval between sounds and the length of time each sound is broadcast.
6. This Transonic model broadcasts at THREE different frequencies:
QUIET = The unit broadcasts sounds that are primarily ultrasonic in the range of 20,000 to 50,000 Hz (almost all sounds are above the range of normal human hearing).
MED = Broadcasts two frequencies: all the sounds in the QUIET mode setting plus a second that is sonic and in the range of 5,000 to 12,000 Hz.
LOUD = Broadcasts at 3 frequencies simultaneously: all the sounds in both the QUIET and MED modes and adds a very loud sonic (siren-type) frequency of 2,000 to 5,000 Hz.
b) HOW TO USE TRANSONIC Pro TO GET RID OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF PESTS
| Fleas, ticks and some crawling insects | Bats |
| Spiders and flying insects | Rodents |
| Birds & squirrels |
c) RANGE COVERED:
The DISTANCE sound carries is based upon frequency: High (ultrasonic) sounds dissipate rapidly, lower frequency sounds carry further.
In the QUIET setting, maximum effective range is about 2,000 sq. ft .
In the MEDIUM setting, about 3,500 sq. ft.
In the LOUD setting, about 5,000 sq. ft.
However, coverage is affected by room acoustics and sound absorbing materials (curtains, carpets, acoustic and sound absorbing ceilings). High frequency sounds cannot pass through walls or floors. Also, objects such as furniture, appliances and room dividers block ultrasonic sounds casting acoustic shadows behind them.
d) INDOOR AND OUTDOOR USE
Coverage in a room can be improved by bouncing the sound off reflecting objects such as walls, cupboard doors, appliances, etc.Obtaining a ricochet pattern will increase effective coverage. Whenever possible, out-of -doors, use TRANSONIC in the MED or LOUD pitch setting as these sounds carry further. Use the QUIET or possibly the MEDIUM setting when the unit is placed near people (as on a deck or patio). The LOUD setting is very unpleasant for people although this setting is the most effective and powerful to use.
e) PRACTICAL TIPS IN USING TRANSONIC UNITS
Repelling any pest, whether insect, rodent or small mammal, is sometimes very easy-- and sometimes very difficult. Hundreds of anecdotal reports are on file of users quickly and completely repelling mice, fleas and other insects. However, if a rodent has just built a nest, has new-born young, has an excellent source of food and water nearby, or if the weather recently turned very wet or very cold, it will take time, patience and an ongoing commitment to repel them.
An example would be a rodent in your wall, signified by a "scratching" sound coming from the wall at various times- especially at night. Use the Transonic unit continuously for at least 10 to 30 days, moving it every few days so that the sounds hit the "target area" from a different direction. Rodents will quickly return if you do not continue to use the unit after they are gone; keep the unit running continuously to insure that they won't return.
The suggested use above should also be followed for repelling squirrels from an attic, mice from a basement area, raccoons from under a deck or hot tub area or fleas from your pet dog or cat. Transonic units can be used in any indoor location and can be used outdoors if precautions are taken to protect the unit from direct rain and moisture.Remember, the Transonic Pro is not waterproof, and precautions should be taken to protect the unit from direct rain and moisture.
Many insects have some type of hearing mechanism - but not all do. Therefore, the most important thing to remember is that while Transonic units emit noises, ultrasonic and sonic, that drive most pests to distraction, the units simply do not work if an insect does not hear or sense any sounds.
